AIEA terms and conditions of membership
  1. Membership of the AIEA (the ‘Alliance’) is strictly for Event Management Agencies / Venue Finding Agencies and other industry related directly allied businesses as deemed fit from time to time by the Board only.Are you an Agency whose primary activity is that of Event management? – if not please state your principal business activity / type.
  2. Membership is for independent agencies which are privately owned and where the principal designated member is directly involved in the business ( the organisation’) . The organisation must have min 2yrs experience and less than 20 employees – please indicate how many employees are employed directly by the business and / or any additional staff that are primarily engaged by the organisation.
  3. Members must conduct themselves in such a way that their conduct would not be reasonably regarded by their professional colleagues within the Membership, as professional misconduct.
  4. Members must not engage in conduct which may seriously prejudice the standing and reputation of the events industry or of the AIEA.
  5. The MD/Owner/ Principal Designated Staff Member must complete the membership application and be directly involved and engaged with the Alliance. This individual must be authorised by the organisation to speak for, and on behalf of, the organisation and to commit to expenditure, policy and other Alliance. Matters as and when may be required from time to time.
  6. The Alliance supports organisations that are established, worthy, credible and professional.
    Upon receipt of a membership application, the Directors undertake a series of background checks across a variety of sources of information (available in the Public Domain), to qualify the nature and experience of an applicant organisation. Please provide any information within your application that may support your case – website addresses , Company Registration Number, social and business media sites ( facebook / linkedin etc).
  7. Organisations must retain their impartiality and not exclude the consideration of any venue or hotel due to agreements it has with any third party, e.g. ‘Override Contracts’.
  8. Members must be actively participate in the Alliance and be support our causes and programmes by sharing information and experiences, responding to polls and regularly attending Alliance Events / meetings etc.
  9. Members of the Alliance can be a member of any other association. Any conflict of interest (deemed to be so by the board) caused by other memberships may be grounds to cancel membership of the Alliance at any time but will be discussed with the member prior to that decision.
  10. Under no circumstances are members allowed to use the name of the Alliance for any grievance or negotiation with any third party in order to serve their individual needs.
  11. Members should through informed and good practices, aim to prioritise the needs, wellbeing and satisfaction of their clients at all times.
  12. Any information discussed within in the Alliance should be treated as confidential and not shared with any non-member unless approved by the membership.
  13. Members are encouraged to explain the benefits and share experiences of the Alliance to other agents in order to encourage them to join but excluding any confidential information as outlined in item 12.
  14. Members are allowed and encouraged to use the Alliance logo on any marketing or promotional material including, business cards, websites, presentations, etc.
  15. Only the nominated AIEA Board signatories are allowed to sign contracts or make commitments and / or payments on behalf of the Alliance.
  16. The Alliance reserves the right to terminate the membership of any member if they breach it’s rules and by law or if the directors believe it’s in the best interest of the Alliance.
  17. Membership fees are due annually. New members joining part way through the year will pay on a pro rata basis.
  18. If a membership is ceased or terminated the membership fee is forfeit.
  19. Membership of the Alliance is not automatically granted. Membership applications are reviewed by the Board, each on its own merits and against these membership criteria. The decision on whether to accept an application rests solely with the Board and their decision is final. The Board will not be required to enter into discussion or explain its decision with regard to membership applications.
  20. Any member found to be in breach of the Code of Practice, or whose professional conduct contravenes points 3 and/or 4. as stated above’ may be expelled from the Association at the decision of the Board of Directors of the AIEA.Lesser offenders may be given a written warning followed by expelling the Member concerned for continuous failure to comply with those clauses in this Membership Criteria Document
